As autumn looms, Texans are looking to state parks for a relaxing, natural break. Here’s what to know as you plan your visit.

As autumn looms and the heat subsides, Texans are looking to state parks for a relaxing, natural break.. You can narrow down your search by what you like to do, where in the state you want to go, and whether you want to do a day visit or stay overnight.For day passes, you can book up to one month before your visit. If you want to stay overnight, though, you can book up to five months in advance. These reservations open at 8 a.m.
As for particular parks, Texas Parks and Wildlife spokeswoman Stephanie Garcia says it all depends on the time of the year and where you are. But if you see your preferred park already booked up, Garcia recommends not giving up. “We have 89 state parks out there,” she said. “There’s definitely another beautiful place to go that has reservations available.”Typically, you can stay 14 consecutive days, but some parks have other limits and rates, so it’s best to check with an agent or visit the specific park’s website for more information.
