The passage of the bill will make Texas the tenth U.S. state to restrict access to school athletics for trans children and teens, blocking them from participating on teams that are consistent with their gender identities. ⤵️
“This bill is state-sponsored harassment and targeting of transgender children, who deserve to learn, grow and have fun with their friends,” Mary Emily O’Hara, the GLAAD Rapid Response Manager said in a statement.
“Governor Abbott should listen to the experts here and veto this bill; every major medical association supports transgender children playing sports as their authentic selves, and hundreds of athletes at all levels support trans kids playing sports. Trans kids deserve our love, support and protection.”
