Houston, the nation’s fourth-largest city, is an interesting study in fandom. The University of Houston has most of the ticket sales and those numbers could increase in the coming years with the Cougars moving to the Big 12 and playing more regional rivals instead of conference opponents from other time zones.
But the greater Houston area, home to alumni from many different schools because of its vast population, also has pockets of ZIP codes where other teams’ sales lead the way, notably Texas and Texas A&M. And fellow city school Rice, while not a football power, has its share of ticket buyers as well.
