As Europe, the U.S. and our allies seek alternatives to Russian oil, the United States has oil and gas to offer — our own hydrocarbon arsenal for democracy — thanks to Texas. Because Texas has embraced everything new about energy since oil was first struck at Spindletop in 1901, we’re also prepared to deliver new types of energy now. We’ve harvested wind and solar power to become one of the nation’s leading renewable energy generators, and stocked our universities with researchers working on advanced, sustainable energy strategies. And many Texas companies are pursuing hydrogen, carbon capture and geothermal energy projects made possible by new federal funding.
