Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 24-year-old Texas man, drove a Ford F-150 into a crowd on Bourbon Street in New Orleans early Wednesday, injuring several people before being shot and killed by police. Authorities are investigating whether Jabbar's actions were motivated by terrorism, as he posted five videos to his Facebook account in the hours before the attack aligning himself with IS. An Islamic State flag was also found on the truck used in the attack.
Jabbar had recently faced financial difficulties, finalizing a third divorce in 2022 and stating he couldn't pay his mortgage. His brother, Abdur-Rahim Jabbar, said he hadn't seen any signs of radicalization in his brother's demeanor, but acknowledged that Jabbar had become increasingly isolated in recent years
