Penn transgender swimmer, had hormone treatment to lower her testosterone level and fulfilled the requirements of the the National Collegiate Athletic Association to swim on the university’s women’s team.

In Florida, athletes must provide a birth certificate showing their sex at birth before signing up for a sports team, because that state has a law banning those born biologically male from competing on women’s teams.LGBTQ+ groups have spoken out against Abbott’s proposal.
