A San Antonio native and Texas A&M University student won $100,000 in tuition from Dr. Pepper this past weekend.
Raphael Idrogo, who attends Texas A&M University, was the winning contestant during the Pac-12 Championship Game’s halftime competition by throwing the most footballs under 30 seconds into a giant Dr. Pepper can.
Idrogo was awarded the tuition money from Dr. Pepper’s 14th annual Tuition Giveaway program, according to a release. Dr. Pepper awarded four Texas students tuition money during the tuition giveaway halftime experience.was awarded the $100,000 prize during the SEC Championship Game, and Althea M. from Baylor also took home a runner-up award during the ACC Championship Game.
Students were chosen to participate in the event by entering the competition through TikTok by posting why they thought they should have a chance to win the tuition money. “Participating in the Dr. Pepper Tuition Giveaway has been a life-changing opportunity,” Idrogo said. “This tuition will help me, and my fellow incredible winners achieve our academic dreams.”The initiative has provided over $13 million in tuition to deserving students across the country since 2008, according to a release.
