Terrell McClain making his mark with Stamps Stampeders CFL
“I wasn’t satisfied, I knew I had a lot more in the tank,” McClain said Wednesday after the Stampeders’ closed practice at McMahon Stadium. “Anyone who knows me knows I’m passionate about it. It’s my love, I just want to be playing football. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. After spending the first 10 weeks of the season on the sideline, McClain broke onto the active roster for the Stampeders’ Week 11 win over the Toronto Argonauts.
While the 34-year-old didn’t record any stats in the game, he had two defensive tackles the next week against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Then, in the Stamps’ back-to-back Labour Day games with the Edmonton Elks, McClain broke through in a big way, picking up sacks in both games.“You know what, I’m really happy he’s on our team,” said Stamps head coach Dave Dickenson. “He’s not only producing and doing some great things on the field, but he’s a great teammate, a guy we want on our team.
If the only thing he was doing was providing a reliable option whenever Rose needed a snap or two off, that would probably be enough. That he’s legitimately causing havoc and taking down opposing quarterbacks is a huge, massive bonus. “He’s savvy, he’s strong, good effort,” Dickenson said. “He’s played a lot of football, he’s a good football player. Obviously, you don’t stick around the NFL for eight or nine years without being a good football player. Ultimately, I think he’s fit in well with our team.”Article contentAs team sack-leader Shawn Lemon was walking to the locker-room while McClain was doing media, Lemon called his teammate the league’s “best-kept secret.
