TerraceBC triathlete finds triumph at world championships, eyes next challenge

Jenna Smith, a 32-year-old athlete from Terrace, celebrated an impressive performance at the 2023 HAMBURG WASSER World Triathlon Sprint and Relay Championships from July 13 to 16. Smith’s journey to the global triathlon started with a successful bid in the Wasa Lake Triathlon qualifier, near Cranbrook, where she secured third place in her age category. Four years ago, she participated in her first triathlon, the Tyhee Lake Triathlon, demonstrating her ambition and skill in the sport.Inspired by Royleen Wensvoort’s participation in the 2018 championships in Australia, the Hamburg event marked Smith’s fourth triathlon.
“We have a lot of amazing athletes in Terrace, especially in the running community, full of great, supportive people,” Smith said. “I’m really just so thankful for the support from the community.”
