North Central zone teams still looking for first victories at high school basketball championships in Langley
Day 1 at the B.C. Secondary School boys basketball provincial championships in Langley failed to bring any victory celebrations for North Central zone teams.
The Cedars Christian Eagles, ranked 10th out of 16 teams, came close. They lost their opener Wednesday to No. 7 Similkameen 68-66 in overtime.Cedars is taking on No. 15 Brookes Westshore today at 10:15 a.m.The Falcons will face No. 9 Ecole Gabrielle-Roy today at 1:45 p.m. The McBride Mustangs, ranked 14th, lost 113-67 to No. 3 St John’s on opening day, then suffered a 78-37 loss today to No. 11 Duncan Christian.At the quad-A provincials, the North Central zone champion Prince George Polars took on No. 2 Spectrum and lost 89-56. PGSS is matched with No. 10 Lord Tweedmuir today at 10:15 a.m.
At the triple-A tournament, the College Heights Cougars lost 77-31 to No. 3 Lord Byng on Wednesday. This morning, the Polars fell to 0-2 after they were edged 62-56 by No. 6 Maple Ridge.
