“Just because something is a law, does not make it right,” Alexander told her council colleagues. “I know there are some who would question whether protecting our unborn is a state matter, or a city issue. This is our city, and what happens in our city is our responsibility. A precedent has already been set here on our dais to take back local control.”
Temecula City Council Member Maryann Edwards said Wednesday, Sept. 14, that Alexander’s request “came as a surprise.” “There are some things we have jurisdiction over, and some things we do not,” Edwards said by phone. “We’ll have to wait and see what is said in the meeting.”in San Clemente by City Council Member Steve Knoblock, but was removed from the agenda and not voted upon.
“Are we willing to stand up and fight for every resident, including the unborn babies who are voiceless?” Alexander asked. “Let’s mark our city as a sanctuary city for Temecula’s unborn. Let’s stand up for righteousness … In order for change to occur, it takes only one to stand and speak up for truth. Let that one be the city council of Temecula.”
