The Tejano Conjunto Festival is the oldest conjunto festival in the United States.
"The festival highlights and celebrates the best in Conjunto music and the Texas Mexican cultural traditions of music, dancing, food, and community connectedness," Cristina Ballí, executive director at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, which presents the festival, said in a statement.Music news:A free seniors dance takes place 10 a.m. to noon May 17 at the theater, 1301 Guadalupe St., with music by Eddie Lalo Torres and Santiago Jimenez Jr.
The Conjunto Hall of Fame induction ceremony begins at 6 p.m. May 18. This year's inductees are Mike Garza, Ramon Gutierrez, Cruz V. Martinez and the Narciso Martinez Cultural Arts Center.Tickets to the hall of fame induction ceremony are $35 atEva Ybarra, often called the queen of the accordion, will be playing the Tejano Conjunto Festival.
