Teen rescued from river by Oceanside firefighters, police [Breaking]
A teen girl was rescued from the San Luis Rey River in Oceanside on Wednesday night after she jumped from the Douglas Bridge into the water, officials said.
Witnesses told Oceanside firefighters they saw the girl jump from the bridge, which is about 35 feet high, into the water below around 10:15 p.m., a department statement said. The Douglas Drive bridge is near Pala Road. When crews arrived a few minutes later, they located the victim standing waist deep in swift moving water about 30 yards from the north bank of the river, according to fire officials.Swift water teams from the Oceanside Lifeguard Division along with Cal Fire helped the girl out of the water. Rescuers were concerned about effects from being in the cold and she was transported by paramedics to a local hospital for medical treatment and warming measures, according to the department.
