Know someone you think should be profiled on our site?Fast-forward to today and the Grade 12 student recently earned the title of “world’s strongest teen.”

In December, he won the title of world’s strongest teen, beating others from around the world at the Official Strongman Games in Madison, Wisconsin. “There’s definitely influences for my motivation like the camaraderie here in this gym that we have. It’s a big family. We always cheer each other on, no matter the weight,” Alex said.

“Strongman’s been around for decades. It’s an old sport. Men and women compete, with big people trying to pull buses and lift stones,” Roest said. Bailey Cloherty, one of the Alberta representatives for Strongman Corporation Canada, echoed Roest’s statements on Alex’s win. Since then, Strongman has evolved a lot. The competition includes a teen division, with some as young as 14.
