The mental illness crisis in the United States is a highly concerning issue — specifically among teenage girls. Many are turning to self harm and attempting suicide.

She also reported on the issue in a segment that aired on"Special Report" on Monday evening .

Serious mental health problems in teen girls are becoming increasingly prevalent in the U.S., according to the CDC. Caroline Zuba is shown at left; at right, Ingrid Boshoff, an eating disorder survivor. Physically harming herself took the mental pain away, said Zuba — who added that the only thing that ultimately helped her heal was medicine and therapy.
