Emergency services including police, firefighters and paramedics responded to the collision on County Road 2, located west of Cornwall just before 3:30 p.m., according to a Saturday news release.

According to Ontario Provincial Police , the girl was struck while riding east on the westbound shoulder of County Road 2 west of Long Sault, just outside Cornwall. Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly before 3:30 p.m. and found off-duty firefighters and others attempting life-saving measures on the girl, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.The driver of the car was not injured. They stayed at the scene and are cooperating with police, Dickson said.
