A 16-year-old boy is facing charges linked to alleged online threats involving a Pickering high school. An investigation began Wednesday after police got information from multiple sources, including International external policing partners, alleging a youth made online comments about producing firearms with a 3D printer and carrying out a school shooting.

On Thursday, investigators with the West Division Criminal Investigations Branch along with officers from the West Crime Team and E-Crimes Unit, carried out a search warrant at a Pickering home. They found various electronic devices, including a 3D printer and an incomplete polymer lower receiver for an Urutau, a 3d-printable semi-automatic firearm. The 16-year-old from Pickering is charged with uttering threats and manufacturing firearm parts. The boy’s name cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
