Last Updated: Oct. 11, 2023 12:21PMOne teen was arrested Tuesday after allegedly starting a fire on board a BC Ferry docked at Swartz Bay on Vancouver Island, according to Sidney/North Saanich RCMP.
Mounties in a release say a 16-year-old male was arrested after the fire, which was inside the vessel’s washroom. Officers boarded the vessel around 8:30 p.m., and the teen was escorted off the boat without further incident.She tells CHEK News the fire happened during the Spirit of British Columbia’s 7 p.m. sailing, and the 9 p.m. sailing was delayed about 35 minutes.
“The extent of the damage remains under investigation,” said RCMP Corp. Alex Bérubé in the release, adding the teen was released but has a date in court.
