Tickets are available for the 25th Taste of the Browns held from 6 to 9 p.m., Monday, Oct. 2 at Cleveland Browns Stadium
That’s especially important as the Food Bank has been busier than previous years, says spokesperson Karen Pozna. So far, this fiscal year the Food Bank has served 379,000 people.
“Many pandemic-related benefits ended the end of 2022. The additional SNAP benefits ended in March. We still have continued inflation and rising food costs,” says Pozna. “90,000 new people have been served this year. These people are turning to the Food Bank and our partners for the first time.” “It’s crazy to think the need is as high as it is,” she says. “A lot of people we see have jobs but are struggling to make ends meet.”
Last year’s function raised $270,000. The Food Bank hopes to reach $300,000 this year. Every dollar raised provides three nutritious meals to the community., 2307 Lee Rd., Cleveland Heights. The small, local business will serve peach cobbler and a new dessert – Atlantic Beach pie. “We participate in the Taste of the Browns because we have several non-profit causes that we support,” says owner Allison Craig. “The Cleveland Foodbank helps many people in northeast Ohio that are financially struggling to survive. Individuals and families should not have to choose between paying rent and utilities and purchasing food to eat. "
