Actor Taron Egerton will reteam with his BlackBird creator Dennis Lehane on another Apple TV+ series, this time the arson-themed Firebug.
Taron Egerton and Black Bird creator Dennis Lehane are officially reuniting for Apple TV+’s upcoming true crime series Firebug. Based on the autobiographical novel In with the Devil: a Fallen Hero, a Serial Killer, and a Dangerous Bargain for Redemption, the Apple TV+ 6-episode miniseries Black Bird debuted in July and was met with immediate critical acclaim. Egerton led the miniseries that was written by Lehane, which followed Jimmy Keene Jr.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY It has now been revealed that Egerton and Lehane will be reuniting for the upcoming true crime series Firebug, via Deadline. Egerton will lead the upcoming project, which is being is developed, written, and produced by Lehane. Apple TV+ has just boarded the project, and the streamer gave the upcoming true crime show a series order.
Including Antholis, Black Bird executive producers Lehane, Egerton, Richard Plepler, Dan Friedkin, and Bradley Thomas will also be reuniting on the upcoming Apple TV+ true crime series. Considering the great success that Black Bird was, it will be interesting to see if Lehane’s follow-up project will be able to reach its predecessor's initial reaction from both critics and its worldwide audience.
Outside the highly praised Black Bird umbrella that Firebug will undoubtedly always have cast over it, the fact that Emmy Award-winning streamer Apple TV+ is also behind the upcoming project suggests Firebug will be a uniquely and remarkably done fictionalized true crime series unlike any other.
