One of those hits was a one-out double by Bellinger in the second that landed in left center field when Steven Kwan waved Straw off and then stopped as the ball landed between the two defenders. Bibee recovered to strike out Dansby Swanson and Jared Young to end the inning. Stroman, meanwhile, retired the first eight hitters he faced before issuing a walk to Bo Naylor in the third. But Kwan chopped a double down the first base line off the glove of Young and Amed Rosario delivered an RBI single to give Cleveland a two-run lead. Stroman allowed five runs on five hits and a pair of walks while striking out seven, but lost his second straight after a streak of seven consecutive wins.
Bibee worked himself into and out of trouble in the fourth when he issued back-to-back walks to Ian Happ and Seiya Suzuki to open the frame. After a fielder’s choice grounder by Bellinger put runners at the corners, Bibee struck out Swanson for the second time on a full count with a 97 mph fastball at the top of the zone.
