Developer that plans to transform U.S. Federal Courthouse into luxury apartments unveils renderings, additional proposed amenities
The developer plans to turn the building — once it’s no longer in use as a courthouse — into a prominent luxury residential facility with a bar and two restaurants on the building’s rooftop that would offer visitors a prime view overlooking the city.
Global Ocean Investments has unveiled artist renderings of what the current U.S. Federal Courthouse on Walnut Street in Harrisburg could look like once it’s transformed into a high-end apartment building. The rooftop will be accessed via a panoramic elevator directly to the roof terrace or straight down to the former court rooms, which will house a Japanese restaurant and bar.Global Ocean Investments said it expects to start construction when the current federal tenants leave in early 2023. The project is due for completion in 2024 or 2025. It’s not clear whether the developer has submitted any plans to the city at this point.
Residences will include high end finishings with eat-in kitchens, large master suites and dens that can be utilized as walk-in wardrobes or home offices, he said.
