T&T Supermarket will suspend customer temperature checks
But with summer coming, T&T CEO Tina Lee says the warmer weather could produce false readings.
“After experiencing one hot weekend in Toronto – this has been our finding. We don’t want to be turning away customers that are registering a high temperature just because they have been standing outside in the heat, or just coming in after some outdoor activity,” Lee said in a note to customers. “We will decide after the summer if this practice will resume, and in the meantime, we believe the risk is still reduced with everyone in our stores wearing masks.”Masks have been mandatory inside T&T stores since May 11.
T&T will supply face masks to customers who don’t have them and then ask for a charitable donation of $1 upon checkout.
