Sybrina Fulton, Trayvon Martin's mother and a gun violence activist, has announced she's running for a seat on her Florida County Commission.
Since her son was murdered, Fulton has been a grieving mom who still, to this day, continues to fight for justice for him. Martin’s death sparked protests at the time that gave birth to the Black Lives Matter movement, particularly after his killer, Zimmerman, was acquitted. Fulton has put her grief to work, highlighting injustices faced by the Black community with speaking appearances across the country and a book she co-wrote.
Fulton is also still heavily involved in the Black Lives Matter movement. It’s clear this determined mom isn’t going to stop fighting for the better world her son deserved to live in.
