Sveta Boykova, a key player for the UNBC Timberwolves, has been named Canada West Biosteel women’s basketball player of the week following her standout performances in comeback victories against the UBC-Okanagan Heat.

Basketball fans in Prince George recognize Sveta Boykova 's significant impact on the UNBC Timberwolves since she joined the women's basketball team 3 ½ seasons ago. This past weekend, Boykova demonstrated her value with crucial performances in UNBC's comeback victories against the UBC-Okanagan Heat. Her outstanding play earned her the title of Canada West Biosteel women’s basketball player of the week .

Boykova collected 16 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists, three steals, and one blocked shot in a 64-55 win on Friday, and followed up with 20 points in a 68-67 triumph on Saturday. She now ranks third in career rebounds with 706 and second in career points with 745 at UNBC. With her selection for the Canada West player of the week, she joins other recent UNBC honorees like Michael Henman, Justin Sunga, and Brityn Hinsche. The Timberwolves remain unbeaten this season at Brownridge Court and head into the semester break with a 3-5 record, looking forward to their next game on Dec. 10 against the Fraser Valley Cascades in Abbotsford
