SUV catches fire on shoulder of I-8 in La Mesa; causes slowing for westbound drivers [Breaking]
A SUV on the right shoulder of Interstate 8 in La Mesa caught fire early Wednesday, causing some traffic delays for westbound drivers, authorities said.
The fire was reported at 9:20 a.m. just west of Jackson Drive and east of the El Cajon Boulevard on-ramp, the California Highway Patrol said. Witnesses told CHP dispatchers that everyone appeared to be out of the vehicle, according to a CHP online log. Firefighters responded to put out the fire.The incident caused some slowing for westbound traffic. At 9:52 a.m., the CHP reported firefighters had cleared the area and all lanes had reopened.This story was updated with additional details.
