RCMP pulled a truck over in the Hart on Sunday

Prince George RCMP pulled over a truck on Sunday, Dec, 1 in a parking lot on the 2200 block of the Hart Highway, suspecting the driver was intoxicated.

The driver provided a breathalyzer test which registered a “warn” reading, police said, before he was detained. The suspect then began a physical altercation with police, which left one officer with minor injuries. This resulted in the deployment of a police officer’s pepper spray and with help from fellow officers, the suspect was detained and transported to Price George's RCMP detachment.

“This is a reminder, now that the holiday season is upon us, to look for other means of transportation if you are going to be consuming alcohol or cannabis." states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, media relations officer for the Prince George RCMP. "A great alternative is Operation Red Nose Prince George, which is available for drivers on weekends throughout December.

The suspect was released later that day after being treated for exposure to the spray and received a three-day driver’s license suspension and had his vehicle impounded for the same length of time.
