Sault Police arrested 34-year-old on Thursday — then again on Saturday
Critics of the so-called “catch and release” system have another case to add to their list of examples.
On July 25, Sault Police charged a 34-year-old man with multiple offences — including three counts of mischief and failing to comply with a probation order — after someone phoned 911 to report a person damaging property at three separate businesses in the 100 block of Churchill Boulevard. Two days later, on July 27, the same man was arrested again on more serious charges.
Sault Police say around 6:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to a theft at a business in the 200 block of Northern Avenue East. Security officers already had the suspect in custody. “A search of the accused found them to be in possession of a loaded flare pen launcher, a can of chemical deterrent, and ammunition,” says a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “It was also determined the accused had provided an incorrect identity to officers.”None of the allegations have been tested in court and Fisher is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
