Justin Reddic was sentenced to four years and two months in federal prison.
OAKLAND — A Bay Area man was sentenced to four years and two months in federal prison after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm that prosecutors say was linked to shootings in San Francisco and Walnut Creek.
Justin Reddic was sentenced by U.S. District Judge James Donato on July 11, court records show. He gets credit for time spent in jail since March 2021, when the charges were filed. Prosecutors allege that Reddic shot at a man after robbing him near a 7-Eleven in Walnut Creek on Jan. 5, 2021. The victim reportedly believed he was meeting up to sell a cellphone, but was robbed for his chain and other personal items. Prosecutors wrote in a sentencing memo the victim was “very confident” after identifying Reddic in a photo lineup.
Reddic was arrested in American Canyon two days later in possession of a pistol, according to court records. The gun was linked to a second nonfatal shooting in San Francisco, in which multiple guns were used, prosecutors allege.
