The comment, shared to a Global BC news story about record-breaking crowds at Surrey’s Vaisakhi Parade, read: “Imagine what one pressure cooker bomb could have done……missed …
Police in Surrey are investigating after a hateful Facebook comment was posted on a local news story about Vaisakhi events this past weekend.
After being made aware of the comment, the news outlet removed the comment and contacted RCMP as well. The comment believed to be under investigation was initially posted on a Global BC post shared on April 20. The post linked a story describing the “new record” of attendees at this year’s Vaisakhi Parade, where more than half a million people took in the festivities.
A post shared on Wednesday read: “I honestly thought snowflakes only came in white……… apparently they come in brown too,” followed by two emojis. Comments on the post devolve into insults and confrontation about racism.
