Neither the name of the cop nor the nature of the incident were released

The cop, who was hired by the service that’s set to replace the RCMP in Surrey back in May, was arrested by Mounties Tuesday and released on conditions as the investigation continues.

Ian MacDonald, a spokesman for the Surrey Police Service , said the SPS is releasing the information now “in the interest of transparency.” “The SPS officer is facing a charge for an alleged breach of trust,” said MacDonald. “However, the charge has not yet been approved by B.C. Prosecution Service.”The officer in question has just over a year of policing experience.

SPS Chief Const. Norm Lipinski has suspended the officer with pay pending the outcome of the investigation, which is being handled by Surrey RCMP.Share this article in your social network
