Texas A&M is riding a season-high winning streak but will face a challenge Wednesday night...
Henry Coleman III, left, and Texas A&M know defense will be the key to slowing down No. 20 Missouri today when the Tigers pay a visit to Reed Arena.COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M forward Henry Coleman III grew up a big fan of Virginia basketball and Virginia Tech football.
“Every game is precious,” Coleman said. “We have to value every game, no matter who we’re playing, home or away.” Fourth-year A&M coach Buzz Williams is hoping his team has already gotten its slump — or, in this case, mini-slump — out of the way this season after losing three games to Boise State, Memphis and Wofford in a four-game stretch before Christmas.
The Tigers roll into Reed fresh off a 3-point home win against Vanderbilt and following a 6-point loss at No. 15 Arkansas. One thing the Aggies expect from the opening tip: the Tigers, ranked second nationally in scoring with 87.1 points per game, pushing the ball with few breaks in their frenetic pace.He added that if the Aggies don’t slow down the Tigers, they’ll likely drop their first league contest.
It’s a small sample, of course, but two games into SEC play, the Aggies rank second in the league in scoring defense in conference games, only allowing 59.5 points per game.
