Two top Democrats request an immediate conversation with John Roberts amid reports on Justice Samuel Alito.

Two top Democratic senators have requested a meeting with Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts 'as soon as possible' in the wake of reports regarding two controversial flags seen waving at the homes of conservative Justice Samuel Alito. The letter seeking a conversation with Roberts was signed Friday by Senators Dick Durbin, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Sheldon Whitehouse, chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Federal Courts and Oversight.

In the past week, The New York Times has reported on two separate instances in which flags associated with the January 6 siege on the U.S. Capitol were displayed at Alito's homes. The justice has said that he had 'no involvement whatsoever' in one of the symbols, which was seen installed outside his residence in Virginia. That symbol, an upside-down American flag, has been associated with the 'Stop the Steal' movement following the 2020 presidential election.
