Superman basically invented the Batsignal.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary Batman and Superman are two of the most iconic heroes to ever live, and they have equally fitting symbols to go with them. The Bat-Symbol and Superman's S-Shield are known worldwide, but now DC has revealed that one of the most famous examples of the Bat-Symbol, the Bat-Signal, was actually inspired by Superman.

DC has been revisiting and updating the Silver Age with a new World's Finest line of comics. These comics usually detail the team-ups of Batman and Superman, and the current series focuses on the earlier years of their friendship. The first case Batman and Superman ever worked together is the subject of Batman/Superman: World's Finest #18 by Mark Waid, Travis Moore, Tamra Bonvillain, and Steve Wands.

While Gordon admits he'd love to, it turns out he has no way to reach Batman: "It's not like I have a way to signal him." But Superman's suggestion gives Gordon an idea for the iconic Bat-Signal, as Gordon says to himself that a signal isn't "the worst idea."Superman and Gordon Come Up With The Bat-Signal When the Bat-Signal hits the sky, every criminal in Gotham City knows what it means.

Superman and Batman have one of the strongest friendships in all of comic books; the two have worked together more consistently than just about any other characters in the DC Universe. As such, Superman has been heavily involved with the Bat-Family, with things like Superman having his own favorite Robin or the fact that Superman gave Dick Grayson the name Nightwing, which is from a Kryptonian legend.

Batman has added plenty to the legacy of other heroes over time, especially considering that he's often the one who finances the entire Justice League. He's also responsible for the legacy of Robin and, by extension, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Red Robin. But in this one instance, Superman is the one who managed to add to Batman's legacy — all because he couldn't track down the Dark Knight fast enough to have a conversation.
