Superman's Fortress of Solitude has been stolen thanks to advanced teleportation technology, revealing just how dangerous his base is. With the Fortress gone, Kryptonian tech, alien predators, and impossible weapons are now all in the wrong hands.
In the latest issue of Justice League, Superman's entire Fortress of Solitude has been stolen, and DC reminds readers that it's one of the most dangerous places on Earth.
In previous issues from writer Brian Michael Bendis, both the League and the secret espionage group Checkmate have been working together in the face of multiple distractions as well as the return of the organization Leviathan. However, it's all hands on deck when the Royal Flush Gang surprisingly steals Superman's Fortress of Solitude from right under his nose. Now, Justice League #70 from Bendis with art by Phil Hester sees Superman angry and very determined to get his home back.
The fact that Superman can't pin down just one thing the Royal Flush Gang shouldn't get their hands on proves how dangerous the Fortress truly is. Not only is it a monument to his lost homeworld of Krypton, but it also houses a massive collection of alien biological samples, an entire zoo of exotic creatures, powerful weapons from all over the galaxy as well as other dimensions, and many more artifacts that should only ever be in the hands of the Man of Steel.
This recent issue of Justice League serves as a great reminder of just how dangerous the Fortress of Solitude is in the wrong hands. As such, it seems Superman is going to have to seriously rethink how his Fortress is protected in the future, though it's likely he and the Justice League are going to have to deal with whatever gets through the recently opened portals first in the issues ahead. .
