Superfresh, a popular Asian food hall in the Annex, is now permanently closed. The company announced the decision in an Instagram post.

Superfresh, a popular Asian food hall in the Annex, is now permanently closed.“Today, with heavy hearts, we share the unfortunate news of Superfresh's permanent closure,” Superfresh posted last Friday. “While the doors to our establishment are closing, we hope that the story and foundation of Superfresh continues to live within our beloved communities.”

The spot opened last year at 384 Bloor St. W. and quickly became a social media favourite, with people sharing selfies of the neon signage and graffitied walls housing an array of “unapologetically Asian” cuisine. The market provided late-night eats until 2 a.m. on weekends and sought to share Asian food, drink and arts programming.

Its offerings included Japanese sandwich spot Katsupan, Indonesian street food vendor Kaki Lima, and Auntie’s Supply,“Superfresh was built on amplifying Asian-owned small businesses in downtown Toronto and creating a space for the community,” the market wrote on Instagram. The market did not share a reason behind the closure. The Star reached out for comment but did not hear back by the time of publication.
