Five-day training program will help community partners learn to recognize and react to situations that might contribute to the rising number of suicides among young people in Northeastern Ontario
People will gather at Cambrian College all next week to learn how to recognize, intervene and take appropriate action when somebody is thinking of suicide.
The network said the rate of death by suicide among young people in Northeastern Ontario is three times the provincial average. "The workshop teaches participants to examine their attitudes about suicide, effectively recognize invitations for help, work with a safety framework, develop new intervention skills, and reinforce old ones," the release continued.
