Suge Knight breaks silence on Nipsey Hussle death from prison: ‘He was trying to follow Tupac’
from prison, Suge said of Nipsey’s death: ‘A lot of artists like Nipsey have the same problem that I had. We are too loyal to our neighbourhood.’Nipsey was well known for his generosity and activism in his local community, notably Slauson and Crenshaw where he grew up. His Marathon Clothing store, where he was killed, was located in the heart of this very area.
Drawing on his own experience, Suge recalled how he loved going back to his hood to get ‘chili cheese fries and strawberries and talk to my lil homies’., who too was shot and killed in 1996.He added: ‘I feel that Nipsey was trying to follow the same Tupac manual to the community. He came together with YG like Snoop did with Tupac.’
Despite his tragic death, Suge is optimistic that good will come from Nipsey’s passing and already has. Addressing the Los Angeles gangs calling a truce to mourn Nipsey, Suge said: ‘What’s good is that all the hoods getting together now … we can be stronger considering what happens when we come together.’
