The Wolves defeat the Peterborough Petes 4-0, Vondras gets first career shutout
The Sudbury Wolves were on the road in Peterborough on Thursday night against the defending Ontario Hockey League champions, the Peterborough Petes, looking to get a revenge victory after being swept in the first round of the playoffs last season. It didn’t take long for the Wolves to get on the board, with Owen Protz scoring his first career Ontario Hockey League goal 2:51 into the opening period to give Sudbury an early 1-0 lead.
With under nine minutes remaining in the first period, Nick Yearwood scored his third goal of the season in as many games to give Sudbury a 2-0 lead, and that is how the first period ended. At the 2:59 mark of the third period, Evan Konyen scored his second goal of the season to widen Sudbury’s margin by a score of 4-0.
