Sudanese protesters flash the victory sign as they march towards the military headquarters during a demonstration in the capital Khartoum on April 11, 2019. - The Sudanese army today was planning to make"an important announcement", state media said, after months of protests demanding the resignation of longtime leader President Omar al-Bashir.
“The armed forces will present an important statement shortly. Be ready for it,” the announcement on state television read, without giving further details. Bashir has also been indicted by the International Criminal Court in The Hague over allegations of genocide in Sudan’s Darfur region during an insurgency that began in 2003.
