Christopher Landon, the screenwriter on five of the Paranormal Activity movies, reveals the studio gave him a strange list of scenes to avoid.

Paranormal Activity screenwriting stalwart Christopher Landon shared a surprising studio note he got on one of the sequels in the popular horror franchise. The found footage series began with the original 2009 haunted house film, created by filmmaker Oren Peli. It quickly spawned a franchise, which Landon became involved in as a screenwriter starting with 2010's Paranormal Activity 2.

After Next of Kin, which was the seventh overall film in the franchise, it was quickly announced that a Paranormal Activity 8 was brewing. It was announced that the greenlit film would be titled Paranormal Activity: The Other Side, but since 2021 there have been conflicting reports on its progress. The last that has been heard from the project is that it was eyeing a release at some point in 2023.

However, Paranormal Activity producer Jason Blum has recently hinted that they may have closed to book on the franchise for the time being. In a surprisingly blunt quote, he lambasted Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin, saying it was "terrible.
