The crash between the bus and a Purolator cube van happened at about 4:30 p.m. on June 30.
There were 16 students visiting from Quebec on the bus at the time. The 18-year-old female was sitting next to the window where the van hit and was gravely injured. “After her classmates attempted life-saving first aid, the injured student was transported to Trail Regional Hospital then Kelowna General Hospital where she remains on life support,” said RCMP Insp. Chad Badry in a statement. She is not expected to survive. The driver of the courier van remained at the scene.
Police say investigators are trying to figure out why the van driver crossed the centre line and are seeking information or video footage from several drivers behind the van. Video from the bus shows three vehicles in particular: a blue two-door coupe, a silver SUV and an older grey Nissan Pathfinder.Share this article in your social network
