It was a thrilling, mean-spirited contest that was fun to watch, but the Flames were left kicking themselves after they gave up a one-goal lead late in the third period. That allowed the game to go to overtime, where the Rangers took the extra point that was available. For a Flames team that has gone 5-13 in overtime and shootouts this season, it was all too familiar.

The Red Wings aren’t the same pushovers they have been in recent years and the Flames certainly can’t afford to take the Buffalo Sabres or Ottawa Senators lightly. They’re not playoff teams, but they’re dangerous.
