One man’s search for the perfect white-noise app to cancel out noisy neighbors while he tries to work from home
QUARANTINE, I SOON discovered, wasn’t quiet. A particularly rude sort of cacophony undermined my work-from-home attempts after my company wisely banished me to my Brooklyn apartment in mid-March.
The intrusive medley, care of my neighbors, included: “Je Suvivrai” , played at a vicious volume 20-25 times a day, and children—clearly without deadlines—whose “indoor voices” could easily have projected throughout the Grand Canyon. Add to this: keening terriers, muffled anguish, and, roughly every hour, the rousing theme from “Game of Thrones” layered over “Je Suvivrai.”
