Columbus police said on Monday that they recovered two stolen vehicles and impounded 11 more over the weekend in a third operation in local law enforcement's ongoing bid to crack down on reckless and illegal ATV and dirt bike use.
Police said they also recovered a third possibly stolen vehicle that had the serial number removed. In addition to the recovered stolen vehicles, police said they issued 26 traffic citations, filed two felony charges, served five misdemeanor writs and two felony writs related to illegal or reckless ATV and dirt bike operation, according to a release.
In some cities across the United States, ATV and dirt bike riders taking over city streets has been a growing trend for more than a decade, with many participants calling the movement"bike life."and Franklinton say the riders disregard traffic laws and pose safety risks and quality of life concerns.
