SASKATOON — The Concordia Stingers of Montreal will be playing for a U Sports national women's hockey championship after defeating the Waterloo Warriors 3-1 on Saturday.

SASKATOON — The Concordia Stingers of Montreal will be playing for a U Sports national women's hockey championship after defeating the Waterloo Warriors 3-1 on Saturday.

Zoe Thibault, Courtney Rice and Jessymaude Drapeau scored for the top-seeded Stingers, who outshot the Warriors 40-20. Tatum James scored a third-period power-play goal for the fourth-seeded Warriors, who trailed 2-1 until Drapeau scored a short-handed goal at 18:40 of the final frame to seal the deal.

Netminder Jordyn Verbeek stopped 19 of 20 shots for the Stingers, while Mikayla Schnarr stopped 37 of 40 shots for the Warriors. The Stingers will face the winner of Saturday night's other semifinal — between the Montreal Carabins and Toronto Varsity Blues — in Sunday's championship final.
