Jane McGarry and Mark Cox, who played Isa Drennan and Tam Mullen in the hit BBC show, were granted the title Doctor at Edinburgh's Usher Hall

Two Still Game stars have received honorary doctorates from Queen Margaret University. Jane McGarry and Mark Cox, who played know-it-all OAP Isa Drennan and penny-pincher Tam Mullen in the hit BBC show, respectively, were granted the title Doctor at Edinburgh's Usher Hall yesterday.

Jane was involved in the Chewin' the Fat radio show, but was not a part of the cast when it hit TV screens - a move which would propel Mark - along with Greg Hemphill, Ford Kiernan and Paul Riley - to stardom and eventually lead to Still Game's commisioning. Mark has also had many parts in much loved TV programmes including Shetland, Rebus, Outlander, and Scot Squad.

And Jane shared the post and wrote: "What a magical day. Dr Cox and Dr McCarry. Unbelievable. We loved our time at QM. Best of luck and congratulations to all the students."
