Draymond Green recently said he’d welcome a playoff series against the Sacramento Kings.
Depending how the rest of the West shakes out, there’s a real possibility that Kerr might be coaching against his former associate head coach in the postseason.
If the NBA season ended Wednesday, the third-seeded Kings and sixth-seeded Warriors would face one another in the first round of the playoffs.“I’m not upset if the standings shook out how they did today and we met Sacramento in the first round,” Green said on a recent episode of “The Draymond Green Show.”Last season, the Warriors had stops in Denver, Memphis, Dallas and Boston before they lifted the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy. All those cities are more than 2.
“I just think that’s much better for us,” Green, 33, said. “Now, Sac is playing well and very good team. Just from the travel. At the end of the day, I don’t care who we play in the playoffs, I think we can win.” The Kings did their part, securing a playoff spot. Now it’s up to the Warriors, who are still wrapped up in a tight race to the finish.
Golden State is currently sixth in the West with five games left. The defending champs are a game behind the fifth-seeded Los Angeles Clippers, and a full game out of the play-in tournament, which they desperately want to avoid.
