Warriors hope to shuffle off Buffalo setback with strong bounce back effort in Rochester
Chris Gill wasn’t happy with his Vancouver Warriors charges Friday night, but this is the one time this season his players have a chance to abruptly change his mood.
“It wasn’t the result we wanted, but we have to get rid of it and focus on Rochester right now,” Gill, Vancouver’s coach, said. “We have to get some good night’s sleep and some preparation tomorrow. Rochester’s in our way right now. We need to get a win.”11 a.m., Blue Cross Arena, TV: BR Live — NLL February 8, 2020The Knighthawks name is familiar to NLL fans, but this is an expansion team. The original Rochester squad, which played in the league championship series just two seasons ago, became the Halifax Thunderbirds this season. All the Knighthawks records and history belongs to them.
“We took about 7,000 minutes in penalties and when you’re shorthanded for the entire quarter, you’re asking your goalie and your short man to do a lot of work,” Gill explained when asked about what changed at that point. “That’s on us. That’s not the way our team plays. We’ve all taken note. We have to be better.”
Penney was knocked around by hard-charging Buffalo forwards several times and Gill admitted that he felt the officials could have lessened that. Jones, a former Bandit, had three goals and three assists. Loewen came up with two goals and two assists.
