Other Fraser Valley teams dominate first-round action at the Langley Events Centre
There’s a video clip rattling around the social media stratosphere of a very animated Kennedy, this time helping out as an assistant coach with the R.A. McMath Wildcats at the junior boys’ basketball provincial championship, as his Richmond team pulls off a last-second play Monday en route to beating the Vancouver College Fighting Irish in the tournament semifinals.
Brookswood, the fifth-place Fraser Valley team from Langley, was up 41-30 halftime against McMath, but the Lower Mainland’s second-place team held a 22-9 margin on the scoreboard in the third to create the fourth-quarter theatrics. By popular demand, here's the full clip of @chrkennedy calling game for @RAMcMath over Van Colllege in the @BCJrBoysBBall semi final at @LangleyEvents Centre last night, Final goes tonight at 7pm pic.twitter.com/LqAFcjxoiZ
The No. 7 Robert Bateman Timberwolves of Abbotsford received 19 points and 15 rebounds from Jayden Gill and also were 12-for-32 from three-point range in an 87-48 romp over the No. 10 Argyle Pipers of North Vancouver. Last year’s Wednesday slate was closer, with three of the eight games decided by five points or less but there were also two games with margins of 50 or more.
